Awning question and mystery question

First my awning question. How does the awning come loose from the RV. Not the roller mechanism, but where the top of the awning attaches to the RV in the slot. Need to take mine down to have hole repaired.
Mystery question for anyone with a 2005 Jayco Jayflight. On my model, as you walk in the door you are headed straight to the J sofa.
Behind the sofa after removal, I found a piece of paneling about 1' x 1' and it is connected to the floor by short piece of 1 x 2. Behind it coming through the floor is several wires, look to be twelve volt with connectors on them. Appear to have never been used. Can anyone shed any light on this. Thanks

RE: RV electrical problem

I did change out the ground fault outlet, what I mentioned is what the new one is doing. There is ground fault in the bathroom, but they are not connected. I will check the panel, though a breaker is not being tripped. Thanks for the help..

RV electrical problem

Hello,
I mentioned a while back about losing a good rv friend to cancer.
I am trying to help his widow fix a few problems with their 5th wheel.
A ground fault interrupt plug in kitchen would trip anytime anything was plugged in. Only outlet fed was about 4 ft. away on same kitchen wall.
I took outlet out and all wiring looked fine. I even did a continuity check on safety ground above and below a connection and was fine. I twisted wires together to check the other outlet and all worked fine.
Determined ground fault interrupt was bad so went and bought a new one.
Put it in and plugged appliance into remote outlet and the ground fault tripped. Reset and the mixer ran, and tripped when I turned appliance off.
Went over to the ground fault outlet and did the same, sometimes mixer would run and not trip. Then after turning mixer off and unplugging, about a minute later the ground fault would trip on it's own. Puzzled because a faulty ground should trip it immediately, not after one minute with nothing plugged in, right??? As far as I can tell these two outlets are the only ones that are on this circuit. The microwave is plugged through a surge protector, could this be causing a problem?? has me scratching my head, any clues??? Thanks

Lots of wires behing J sofa in Jayco

Pulled the J sofa out of our burned 2005 Jayco JayFlight 31BHS, that we bought to remodel. Behind the sofa is a small piece of paneling attached to the floor and extending up about a foot. Behind it, coming through the floor is a bunch of wires with female connectors on them. Look like they have never been used. Can anyone shed any light on what these are for. Really make me think they were factory installed, but look as though never used. Really got me scratching my head, hope some one can help?????????? Thanks

Jknife sofa

Anyone had any dealings with Rvandvansurplus.com. We were going to recover our sofa but we can buy one here for 259.00. Wondering if any RVers have had any dealings with this company. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thanks

Our dear RVer friends

We have some dear friends who have traveled many a mile. They were telling us recently about a trip by rail into Mexico. Your RV is loaded on a flat bed, you live in the RV during the trip and unload at a RV site in Mexico, load up when you are ready to come back the same way.
Any of you done it or heard about it???
Sad news, Harold, of the couple just mentioned lost the use of his legs over a week and a half.
He has cancer of the spine, doctors do not give out much hope, but he and his wife have strong faith. We are standing with them in prayer for his healing.

RV air, which way should I go.

Still working on our remodel of our purchased burned out Jayco.
Pulled the air off roof and everything looks fine. Coleman model 1976C136 . The nine pin connector and circuit board were burned up. I think I know the answer, but is there any way to bypass the board? Seems there should be a way to activate the relays.
Other questions, can I buy a roof unit with out the shroud, it is fine?
Is there a place to buy the nine pin connector and circuit board, well I mean off of a salvaged unit, bad compressor or what ever. I found the circuit board new for around 175.00. Not sure which way would be best.
Any thoughts and suggestions....Thanks for all the past help.

Wires coming from unit are green, black, white, purple, red, yellow. These are in one wiring harness. I could use your expertise or how to find a wiring diagram. Also does anyone know what size btu the air conditioner is? Thanks
The thermostat was destroyed, but only had two wires on it when I took it off the wall....Thanks

Surround sound system

We have to replace the entire surround system in our 2005 Jayco, speakers and all, so we have open choices. How many watts do the RV systems usually use. I know 1000 watts would be over kill, but would 100 do, again what wattage came in yours. Thanks, Jerry

RE: Wiring and amps questions

Thanks to all for the suggestions and advice. Since I am rebuilding the inside, I think I will go ahead and re wire for 50 amps. Fred mentioned battery chargers of different amps. I have a shop charger, 20 amps max. Is this what you were referring to or is there a charger that size in the converter box. Another thing I have been debating is whether it is better to have a generator for boon dock camping or good inverter. Thanks again for all the help. Jerry

Wiring and amps questions

I am rebuilding our burned out Jayco. 30 amp service seems light if using air, microwave and lots of lights, tv etc.
1. Do any of you use led interior lights, do you like them, save on amps right? If not, what do you recommend , I like a well lighted room.
2. I can get a 12 volt vent a hood, is this the way to go?
3.Thinking of running heavier cord to converter to allow 50 amps,
while rebuilding. I believe this would allow usage of anything, without amp. shortage. Any comments or ideas?
4. Is going 50 amps over kill, do you run short on amps at 30?
5. Is there any reason I can't run 50 to converter and change main breaker to 50. Would allow me to use bigger amp AC breakers and put
micro wave and tv on same? Would I have to go to a different converter?
Thanks

What water pump do we have

Re-building our 31ft Jayco Jayflight and have not found the water pump.
Inside burned. Anyone tell me where it might be and what brand water pump was in it and did you find it sufficient as far as water pressure. If I replace which I think I will have to do, any suggestions on water pumps and size. Thanks

Dependable Salvage Parts

We are rebuilding a salvage Jayco and need several parts. Have read that a good salvage yard that test parts is a way to save money. Question is, can anyone give me a name of a place that you have had good service with for used parts. Thanks Jerry
